All GEA Grasso screw compressors used in the package series are fitted with a continuous capacity control with a range of 10 - 100%. The capacity is adjusted by shortening the compressor stroke. The defining factor for the compression process is the effective rotor length; this is altered by a hydraulically operated control slide (mounted below the rotors). As a standard, each Grasso liquid chiller FX PP, LP, VP comprises a low-voltage switchgear installation (IP54) with integral freely programmable logic controller (PLC) GSC.
